WHAT IS PCM?

FOCUSED ON PREVENTION BEFORE A CRISIS OCCURS.

PCM is an advanced system of crisis management crafted by the PCMA and instructed by the excellent staff of ABC, Inc. What makes PCM unique is the primary focus on prevention of a crisis, before individuals have become non-compliant, agitated or aggressive. The “hands-on” training and written tests provided to the participants receiving instruction in PCM ensure the highest level of skill acquisition and understanding of the four components included in PCM; Crisis Prevention, Crisis De-escalation, Crisis Intervention, and Post-Crisis Intervention.

THE FOUR COMPONENTS

Crisis Prevention

Preventing a crisis is the best approach!

The crisis prevention component of the PCM system teaches a wide range of nonphysical and verbal strategies for the prevention of crisis situations. Throughout the course, an emphasis is placed on the importance of individual choice and basic human rights.

Crisis De-escalation

The PCM system ABC teaches utilizes established research based techniques for verbally de-escalating disruptive and aggressive behaviors. Though this training, participants acquire skills that enable them to quickly and safely stabilize an escalating situation before it becomes necessary to physically intervene.

Crisis Intervention

This component provides a continuum of physical procedures and techniques that can be utilized during crisis intervention. Uniquely designed for children, adolescents, and adults, the training helps prevent pain and avoids awkward positioning. It also reminds the participants to respect the dignity, value, rights and freedoms of all the individuals involved in the intervention.

Post-Crisis Intervention

Various methods of interacting (verbally) during post-crisis intervention counseling is presented and practiced at all training courses. Participants gain skills that enable them to quickly reintegrate individuals back to their regular teaching or treatment activities. Participants obtain training in how to conduct post-crisis analysis, including ways to improve future interactions.

OUR INSTRUCTORS

GUIDING OUR CLIENTS THROUGH CRISIS.

The Professional Crisis Management, or PCM, trainers at Alternative Behavioral Concepts are not only well trained, but experienced in facilitating these techniques in real world situations.

Although our trainers have the education and experience, some for over 20 years, they are still considered “first generation” trainers. This simply means they receive their training from the PCMA experts directly. This ensures that our instructors receive the best information and processes, avoiding “water downed” training. You know you’re receiving the highest quality training for PCM when working with the excellent staff of ABC, Inc.
